OAKS is part of our PBIS program (Positive Behavior Intervention System) at Addams. The students can earn tickets for showing OAKS behavior. Every Friday, we hold a drawing for all students in each class who have earned a ticket. That student gets a prize and his/her picture is showcased on the big OAK tree right inside the front doors.
OAKS:
Outstanding Learners
Always Respectful
Kindness Counts
Safety First
The students are getting acclimated to our classroom and one another. They have had a lot of opportunities to play with each other in areas throughout the classroom including the block area, lego table, play-doh table, art center, and pretend play area. They have also worked together to complete floor puzzles and have enjoyed one another’s company in the reading corner. I’ve read many books to the students about being in kindergarten and going back to school. I was excited to read one of my classic favorites as well, Corduroy. The students also fell in love with Pete the Cat. Ask your child to sing, “I was rocking in my school shoes,” to you! Next week, I’ll play the other Pete the Cat favorite, “I love my white shoes,” to the kids.
