Three wonderful role models from the Royal Oak High School basketball team read Salt in His Shoes, a book about Michael Jordan to our class! We talked about the book’s theme: perseverance, hard work, and determination and the author’s message: Never give up and keep reaching for your dreams!

I ordered new LEGO sets to add to our play time centers! However, the children had to earn them by showing OAKS behavior in the hallway, while lining up, and during transitions. And, they did it! They can play by themselves or with a partner, and they can build their own creations or use the LEGO booklet and follow step by step directions. Here are a few photos of the kids enjoying the LEGOS! Each child received one of the following: a teen number, a pair of addends 10 + x, a ten frame showing 10, or a ten frame showing another number. They worked together to get into groups of 4 to show different teen numbers. A Pistons coach, DJ, and the mascot, HOOPER, visited us at Addams and talked to the kids about being a good person. The kids worked in two different groups, and each child was responsible for making a tower of 10 cubes or a chain of 10 links. The class predicted which would be longer: 100 links or 100 cubes. We then counted by tens to 100 as we connected them and found our result! |
